Firing on too many cylinders

For breakfast it would seem that the Athenians ingest more caffeine than the bloodstream can process and this is then complemented with nicotine. Once they’ve reached the state of someone suffering from an advanced form of attention deficit disorder they get in their cars and drive. It’s not pretty.

Meanwhile in my whimp-like northern-european way I breakfasted on orange juice while looking at the oranges ripening on the trees outside our window. It was warm enough later to drink coffee outdoors. On the one hand it’s great to see the blue skies, on the other hand the attention deficit disorder means you can’t hear the person sitting next to you because 6,000,000 Athenians are tooting their horns.

Did I mention the blue skies? And the oranges?

  1. What was that? Sorry can’t hear you.

  2. I’m such a Londoner that I got very excited about the idea of oranges GROWING ON TREES, ACTUAL TREES, RIGHT UP THERE IN THE SKY.

  3. We had a lemon and lime tree in the garden of our Ibiza Christmas villa – lemons on one side, limes on the other – and we were all ridiculously excited at being able to pick our own fruit for margueritas and v & t’s.
